How to Swap Your Unwanted Beauty Products, Clothes, Shoes, and More on MakeupAlley

I swapped this top and these boots on MakeupAlley...

...for all of this! MAC, Smashbox, and NARS makeup and 3 mini perfumes

Every girl has stuff lying around that she doesn't wear or use anymore or things she bought but never ended up using. (Impulse buys are a bitch, aren't they?) When my sisters and I were young, we had these garage sales called "Sister Swap" (I know, shut up) where we gathered up all of our unwanted stuff and displayed everything out in the hallway in front of our bedrooms. Then, we bargained with each other and traded our rejects for something we wanted.

Now, it's impossible to swap stuff with my sisters because we all live in different places and we all wear completely different styles of clothing and makeup. But there are places online where I can still trade in the stuff I don't want for stuff I do want, like MakeupAlley.com. Here's how:

Go-Go-Gadget Makeup Brush!

Sephora Magnetic Makeup Brush Wand, $10

This is SO COOL- it reminds me of the interchangeable lipstick wand toy I had when I was a kid. Sephora created a travel brush stick made up of four detachable magnetic brush heads- brilliant! This will definitely save me some space in my bag by letting me leave some brushes at home. I have three makeup bags in my purse at all times but now *fingers crossed* maybe I can fit everything into two. (And maybe I won't end up with a hunchback like Quasimodo after a few more years of lugging all that crap around.)

I just wish that they'd make a bigger one for blush, powder, and contouring brushes, since this one only has eyeliner, brow, smudge, and sponge brushes. Hopefully the larger brush set will be coming up soon. For now, you can get this touch-up makeup brush stick at Sephora for a measly $10- definitely affordable by Sephora's standards. Happy shopping!

The Perfect Way to Store Your Pigments and Other Makeup

5 -Drawer Makeup and Jewelry Organizer from FindingKing.com

My makeup is usually thrown all over the place- my vanity table looks like it something out of an episode of Hoarders. I finally got tired of everything collecting dust because it was sitting out in the open, so I looked online for something I could use to keep all of it organized.

This black storage case from FindingKing.com has 5 drawers and has enough room for most, if not all, of your cosmetics. It measures approximately 15 1/8" x 8 3/8" x 7 5/8" (38.4 x 21.3 x 19.2 cm) and can come with various inserts for jewelry or trays with different sizes of little plastic jars for pigments and other loose powders (shown above).

If you're tired of rummaging through a messy train case or bathroom drawer to find the makeup you're looking for, check out this makeup/jewelry storage case and get organized!

Natalie Dee Keeps It REALLY Real When It Comes to Fashion and Makeup

I saw this on NatalieDee.com, a funny comic blog that my sister loves, and HAD to re-post it here:

Natalie Dee's comic, "It Doesn't Take a Genius to Know Wearing 15 lbs of Fabric is Going to Make You Look 15 lbs Heavier"

I feel you, girl.

And fashion designers aren't the only people she's beefin with:

This one's called "Thank for Ruining My Face for Commission"

Lol, tell us how you REALLY feel, Natalie Dee :)

Organize Your Bag with This Glam Joyrich x LeSportsac Tristlet

If there was a Guinness World Record for having the messiest purse in history, I would probably win. I'm the worst when it comes to organizing my bag- I just throw a bunch of shit in and dig for anything I need. But, after spotting this "tristlet" from Joyrich LA and LeSportSac on Karmaloop.com, I decided to turn a new leaf.

Shake up Your Makeup with Plum Blush!

It's getting cold out here in L.A.- I went to the beach last weekend for one last hurrah and promptly froze my *ss off, turned around, and went back home :( *Sigh*. Almost time to trade the bikinis for trench coats and flip flops for boots... but not just yet. Until then, all I can do is Fall-ify my makeup and nails... since the cooler weather suddenly makes bright peach cheeks and neon pink nails seem out of place.
My new beauty obsession this season is plum-colored blush, which looks so chic and makes a girl stand out from the rosy-cheeked crowd. It might seem intimidating at first, seeing purple blush in the pan, but use a skunk brush and a light hand and you'll get a gorgeous flush of plum.

Here are few that are guaranteed to look amazing with any Fall outfit:

Note: All references to skin tones are suggestions only! You can definitely experiment with any of these colors, no matter what your skin tone :)

Would you wear plum blush in the Fall?
